Photographers are people who capture stories and precious moments in one's life and if it wasn't for Aristotle and later Reiner Gemma Frisius we would still have cameras, but a lot later in history. But let's leave the history here...
To be a photographer nowdays is not a big deal as everyone owns a digital camera. Even your phone does a great job capturing great shots. What defines the photographer from a non photographer, in my opinion, is the love and emotions that connects the person behind the camera to the subject who have never met before.
Many people say that I won't survive in this industry as I don't even have a degree in photography. One can be taught how to use a camera, but no one can tell how to FEEL the moment, how to be One with the subject! There are so many things that I still have to find out about fine art side of photography and the business side of it too, but the desire of creating beautiful images that tell a story make everything achievable.
I hadn't seriously thought about having a wedding photographer for my big day and I regret it, big time! Underexposed, blinking eyes and cluttered photographs are the only evidence of my beautiful day. Of course, I am thankful to my friends and family for taking those photographs (at least something, right?), but only if I had a professional wedding photographer, perhaps things would have unravelled differently.
Now I am looking for more opportunities to show the brides and grooms of future how the wedding memories should look like. I want the bride to be happy when sharing the photos with the loved ones. Be it online, albums or large prints I want her to relive the day over and over again.
Stay Inspired
