A lot of times I caught myself browsing away from set assignments that I thought for myself. I set challenges and gave myself time frame to work towards it, but easily got carried away when on line. So much to read and learn. But I HAD to be firm on myself and follow the goal, which had to be challenging, i.e. new camera setting, new technique, new lighting...
My aim was to practice photographing everyday and get to know my camera so well so I don't have to panic and freeze when I worked with other people. But I soon came to realised that it wasn't just the camera I needed to know how to work with. If my aim was to survive in this saturated market I needed to know how to do marketing, correct pricing, blogging, communicating (I am far better communicator in real life)... Now, when you are like me (I mean, no formal degree in art) you know you have to work harder and read a lot more than our peers with diplomas, as you don't have tutors to direct you. But learning everything our way at our own pace is rather easy and not stressful now days, should you know what you are looking for to learn about. With the available information online or in libraries it is all for free. So I embraced the opportunity as I didn't have much money to spend on courses and degrees. Hence my motto - Aim, Read, Learn and Practice.
I am a fighter and a true believer that good things come to those who work hard and don't give up. (Almost) everyday practise on simple objects around the house and my children helped me a lot. Practise, followed by numerous books, google search, e-books, seminars, webinars, classes. Yes, I can confidently say that practice makes it perfect. Although far from being perfect yet, I can clearly see myself moved a step forward. And just to confirm that here is another photograph of my lil baby on our recent unplanned shoot.
She is so natural and didn't need any directions on posing.
Happy Tuesday
